Getting Around Penang | Visiting Penang

By Taxi

Most taxis do not use meters, so do agree on the price before moving off or request for the meter to be turned on.  Taxi normally charge between RM3.00 to RM6.00 for short distance within the city and from Georgetown to the beach will cost about RM15 without meter.  It's kind of hard to request for the meter to be turned on.  The taxis leaving from the airport follow a coupon system where fares are fixed for different destinations.  Limousines are also available for a higher fee.
