Start from: Weld Quary  ---->   (head 300m northeast on Jalan Pengkalan Weld) ----> Church Street Pier ----> (500m along same road) ----> Victoria Clock Tower ----> (100m north at Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah)  ----> Fort Cornwallis ----> (400m along the same road) ----> War Memorial ---->  (turn into Jalan Padang Kota) ----> City Hall ---->  Town Hall ----> (cross the road at Light Street) ----> House of Yeap Chor Ee ----> (turn corner at Bank Negara towards junction of Jalan masjid Kapitan Keling & Bishop Street) ----> St. George's Church ----> (just 2 door away)----> Penang Museum and Art Gallery ----> (500m northwest along Farquhar Street, at Keith St. junction) ----> Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion ---->  (continue aong Leith St. after Muntri St. junction) ----> Benggali Mosque ----> (walk back, turn right into Muntri st about 100m)  ----> Hainan Temple ---->  (east on Muntri St. cross love Lane into Stewart Lane until Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling) ----> Kapital Keling Mosque  ---->  (200m along the same road) ---->  Kuan Yip Temple

 

Some Pointers:-

  • Along Jalan Pengkalan weld, there are several big god owns between Church st. pier and Swettenham pier that bears testimony to the prosperous port of Penang

  • South of the Victoria Clock Tower is Beach Street, the centre if colonial days and it is still a bustling business centre area for Penang today where trade deals and money exchange are order of the day.

  • The explanade is just next to Fort Cornwallis.  This is the waterfront area where events are usually held.

  • Food court at Esplanade.

  • Muntri St. - Jin Xiu At & Tea; W&O cafe

  • Coffee shops near Kuan Yin Temple offer variety of delicious hawker foods.
