The only Temple have Snake in Penang

This temple was built to commemorate the Buddhist priest, Chor Soo Kong who was known as a famous healer.  The snake temple was built in 1850.  It takes some courage for one to step inside the temple, as snake are free to coil around the altar and the interior of the temple.  It is believed that the visibly thick incense smoke keeps the snake harmless.  Visitors have nothing to fear, as the snake been envenomed to ensure safety.

Most of the snake in the temple are beautiful in color, blended on dried tree for resting in the temple. Various type of snake can be found here, some are viper and poisons. Not to worries, it is safe to view them as be sure not to be too close as warning sign been posted on most of the corner to warn visitor for not touching the snake in the temple.

They snake in the temple will not bite unless you got "itchy" hands.
